Sometimes we see it, sometimes we don’t but t are always there. In the case of many Aboriginal people something that is also passed down is fairer skin. In most cases this was the result of circumstances beyond the choice of Aboriginal people. Whether by choice or not, the colour of an Aboriginal person’s skin does not make that person less in any way. It is the family values that shape and give identity to a person.

Pink Design:

SACRED CHILDREN – All children are sacred and deserve our love, respect and protection. Children should be free to move about, experience life, find and discovery things, learn, have fun – be allowed to be children BUT know that they remain secure within the boundaries set by their parents, caregivers, Aunts, Uncles, Grandparents and others.

“I was invited by Family Worker Training and Development Programme to create Welcome posters as a resource: Karen Maber"

Welcome is much more than a word that is spoken – it is a word that is felt. By displaying these posters it is my hope that they symbolise a commitment of your welcome to your Aboriginal community.

By acknowledging the language, the people and the Ancestors of the land we stand upon, it shows that respect is given to Aboriginal culture and by so doing, respect is given to Aboriginal people; past, present and future.

The use of local Aboriginal language together with English language on the posters represents two cultures creating relationships and sharing resources; acknowledging the past and welcoming in the future.

· A portion of all proceeds from the sale of these posters will support local Darug and Gundungurra Elders.

· Posters available in: Darug/English in either brown or pink designs and Darug/Gundungurra/English in either brown or pink designs.

They are all A3 size and come laminated.
